City hit by hail storm
A huge temporal hit Florence this afternoon between 3.40 and 4.40 PM. For 20 minutes, from about 3.50 to 4.15 PM a hail storm has paralyzed pedestrians: people have been looking for repair wherever possible: under roofs, inside shops, as it was impossible even to walk due to the violence of the hail.
Many cellars have been flooded, while right now is in progress an esteem of the damages in the fields of the countryside surrounding Florence. In particular, there is worry about hail having destroyed wine grapes and olives oil.
The storm happened while a debate on the paucity of water is in progress. Not much rain at all came down this year, and Italian aqueducts lose 42% of the water in the transportation progress due to their bad conditions. National and local authorities are considering the hypothesis of increasing the price of water for domestic use, instead than doing the most logical thing: investing on repairing the aqueducts.
