A Review of the Movie Invictus
Invictus, the latest film by Clint Eastwood, tells how president Nelson Mandela (an extraordinary Morgan Freeman) tried to reconcile the southafrican nation through rugby. The Springboks lead by captain Francois Piennar (a convincing Matt Damon) is the national rugby team supported only by a minority of southafricans and hated by the rest of the them as a symbol of apartheid. In 1995 the rugby world cup was played in SouthAfrica and Mandela decided to use this event to spread a message of hope and peace in his country. Perhaps Invictus is not one of Eastwood best films, but it is a good work that shakes audience’s emotions showing how a rugby team won more than a world cup against all odds.
