American Student Fallen from Window Is Now in a Critical Conditions

An American student was found with multiple fractures on his back and legs after falling from a window sill measuring 10 meters high. The accident took place on Sunday March 14th around 3 am. The student was drunk, and is now in a critical conditions.

In a small courtyard on ‘via dell’ Ariento,’ Morton Carey Wray, who studies at the Florence University of the Arts, attempted to climb into his neighbors’ window via the terrace. A friend of his helped him get over the bars protecting the window, and just as his friend closed the shutters a loud thump was heard by the housemates.

Morton’s drunk and unalert state led him to lose balance and fall 10 meters straight down onto the stones of the courtyard. As he lay there, the police were called immediately. Rescue workers had difficulties entering the courtyard, however after a few attempts the fire brigade found a stairway which gave them access.

Morton was lifted onto a stretcher in order to avoid causing extra pain. He had multiple fractures in his back and legs and was taken straight to the intensive care unit at ‘Careggi’ hospital. The operation on his back took all night. He still is in intensive care, and his condition is critical as he is suffering from very bad post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
